Generosity '25

At The Lakes Church, giving is not just a practical necessity — it is part of our worship. Each week, we come to the Bread and the Cup, remembering that Christ is our daily bread and our sufficiency. In that same spirit, generosity becomes a way we learn to trust God with our lives, not simply our intentions.

As we close out this year, we invite our church family to consider your next step in generosity.

For some, this may be their first time giving. For others, it may mean moving from occasional giving to regular, intentional giving. And for many, this may be the year to increase giving as an act of worship.

Not out of pressure.
Not out of guilt.
But as a way of saying with our lives:
Christ is our treasure. Christ is our daily bread.

What Your Giving Supports:

Presence + Worship

We gather each week not for performance, but for encounter. Your giving helps sustain:

  • Worship centered on Scripture, prayer, and Christ’s presence

  • The Bread and the Cup as a weekly act of dependence

  • Pastoral leadership, preaching, and intercession

This is our heart: a people gathered around Jesus.

Kids + Youth Discipleship

We are committed to raising children and students in the way of Jesus. Giving provides:

  • Safe, consistent formation environments

  • Curriculum shaped by the story of God

  • Trained and supported volunteers walking alongside families

This is our future: a generation encountering Christ deeply and early.

Lakeside Presence + Neighborhood Mission

We believe God has placed us in Lakeside on purpose. Giving strengthens:

  • The Lakeside building as a home for prayer, worship, and community life

  • The Clothing Closet serving families across Muskegon County

  • Partnerships with Bunker Elementary and local agencies

This is our call: Practicing the way of Jesus together for the good of the Lakeshore.

Care + Pastoral Support

Your giving makes it possible for us to walk alongside one another in the real places of life.

  • In seasons of crisis, illness, grief, and transition...

  • In marriage and family challenges, and

  • In meeting practical needs within our church family.

Take Your Next Step

Your giving is part of how we are being formed into a people who live with open hands, rooted in prayer, marked by love, and grounded in Christ.

On the Lakeshore

On the Lakeshore

We invite you to take a moment and read our Generosity Liturgy.

We receive this liturgy as an embodied practice of counter-formation to cultivate our hearts in the direction of generosity.

Holy Father, there is nothing I have that You have not given me. All I have and am belong to You, bought with the blood of Jesus. To spend everything on myself, and to give without sacrifice, is the way of the world that You cannot abide.

But generosity is the way of those who call Christ their Lord; who love Him with free hearts and serve Him with renewed minds. Who withstand the delusion of riches that chokes the word; Whose hearts are in your kingdom and not in the systems of the world.

I am determined to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us. I am determined to be trustworthy with such a little thing as money that You may trust me with true riches.

Above all, I am determined to be generous because You, Father, are generous. It is the delight of Your daughters and sons to share Your traits, and to show what You are like to all the world.

Amen.
